Collectif G (F/RU)

Collectif G is a piano duo formed by Maroussia Gentet, a French pianist and winner of the 2018 Orléans Competition, and Matvey Zheleznyakov, a pianist and sound researcher. The project grew out of a shared interest in the historical twentieth-century repertoire and piano compositions that explore the instrument’s timbre, spatiality, and theatricality. The duo performs works such as George Crumb’s Makrokosmos, Messiaen, and Ligeti, alongside new commissions, working with extended techniques, prepared piano, and the use of the piano as a percussive and resonant object. Gentet brings an interpretive sensitivity that combines analytical rigor, imagination, and a strong stage presence; Zheleznyakov contributes a focus on structure, the relationship between gesture and sound, and the construction of a narrative that is both musical and visual. Collectif G stands out for its ability to make the visionary dimension of this music perceptible, highlighting its physical and performative components without losing the depth of the text. The duo collaborates with living composers and European institutions, helping to reshape the image of the contemporary piano as a ‘total instrument’: melodic, percussive, timbral, and spatial.
