He is one of the most acclaimed and active guitarists on the international scene. He trained in Milan, Lausanne, and Basel with Paola Coppi, Oscar Ghiglia, and Frédéric Zigante. He won first prizes at the “M. Pittaluga” competitions in Alessandria and the “Guitar Foundation of America” in Charleston, launching a career that has led him to perform in over 600 concerts across more than 25 countries, including the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Latin America. Micheli is known for his impeccable technique and interpretative sensitivity. His repertoire ranges from Baroque to contemporary music, with particular attention to composers such as Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Miguel Llobet, Mauro Giuliani, Antoine de Lhoyer, Andrea Falconieri, Ferdinand Rebay, and François de Fossa. He has also explored double guitar repertoire with the duo “SoloDuo,” founded in 2002 with Matteo Mela. The duo was described by the “Washington Post” as “extraordinarily sensitive – nothing less than rapturous.” Lorenzo Micheli is a guitar professor at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland and an “Artist in Residence” at the University of Colorado Boulder and Columbus State University. He is also a teacher at the Imola International Academy Foundation and artistic director of the guitar music series published by Canadian publisher d’Oz. His teaching activities extend to masterclasses at the “A. Boito” Conservatory in Parma and the “Pedro de Olavide” University in Seville. His performances have taken him to prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Vienna’s Schubertsaal, Kiev’s Sala delle Colonne, Madrid’s Auditorio Nacional, Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Hall, and Seoul’s Sejong Hall. He has collaborated with internationally renowned orchestras and chamber ensembles, consolidating his reputation as a versatile and highly regarded artist.
