Grammy-nominated record producer and sound engineer. She was born in Italy and works out of her Studio Zona in London. She has collaborated with Björk, Sampha, M.I.A, Bon Iver, Black Midi, Romy, Porridge Radio, Animal Collective, Holly Herndon, Circuit des Yeux, HAAi, Ela Minus, Mica Levi, Dreamwife, Daniel Avery, Planningtorock, Lafawndah, Rosie Lowe and Duval Timothy, Alex Cameron, Shura and the Orielles. As a technician, he has worked at the mixing desk alongside David Wrench on projects for Frank Ocean, The xx, Goldfrapp, FKA Twigs, David Byrne. He also performs improvised and composed sets using tape recorders, creating loops, feedback and echoes through the manipulation of both live and prepared sounds, using his collection of Revox, Ferrograph, Akai and Teac reel-to-reel. He collaborates with other artists, reworking their live sounds through his magnetic tape mazes, weaving intricate sonic tapestries. In 2023, he released the album ‘Music For Open Spaces’ on the Hands In The Dark label, written and performed with Tom Relleen. The album was recorded in Joshua Tree, Cornwall and London, and is inspired by the local landscapes. Previous releases include ‘L’Ebbrezza Delle Grandi Profondità’, a sonic homage to Jacques Cousteau’s book ‘The Silent World’ recorded with Francesco Fonassi at Spettro (Brescia) in September 2021 and released on the Canti Magnetici label. In London Marta runs a charity called ‘Free Youth Orchestra’ to facilitate access to musical instruments and equipment, providing free instruments and workshops run by local musicians. She started working as a live sound engineer for the Magazzino 47 social centre and the independent radio station Radio Onda D’Urto, non-profit venues and counterculture organisations for concerts, festivals and theatre productions. Marta has been awarded the Music Producer’s Guild (MPG) Breakthrough Engineer of the Year 2018, Breakthrough Producer of the Year 2020 and UK Music Producer of the Year 2022.
