Rückverzauberung (live)
The final event of the Itinerari Insoliti series brings together two worlds distant in time but connected by sensitivity and depth of listening. An evening that opens with the intimate and archaic sound of the baroque guitar and closes with an electronic experience where the musical element is charged with romantic, spiritual, and conceptual tensions. Lorenzo Micheli, one of the most important interpreters of early guitar repertoire, offers a rare solo program dedicated to the baroque guitar.
Fragile instrument, with a delicate yet richly nuanced voice, the baroque guitar is presented by Micheli in all its timbral complexity through an interpretative gesture that combines philological rigor with expressive freedom. It is a listening experience that requires attention and intimacy, where the sound does not invade space but questions it discreetly, bringing the listener back to a contemplative and meditative dimension.
Following this, Wolfgang Voigt —a key figure in the German electronic scene and founder of the historic label Kompakt—performs live with Rückverzauberung (Reincantation). In this cycle, Voigt sets aside rhythmic techno structures to embrace an ambient writing that is highly dramatic, drawing on orchestral materials and manipulating their substance through slow electronic processes. The sound expands into dense, layered soundscapes marked by austere lyricism—a kind of secular liturgy evoking memories of German Romanticism and musical sublime.
If during the series we heard attempts at deconstruction and disillusionment, this final evening proposes a reversal: a “return to sound” understood as the possibility of poetically reinventing the world. A dialogue between ancient and modern that is not based on opposition, but on the opportunity to share a common space: that of deep listening, sonic imagination, and a beauty that becomes a perceptual experience. Itinerari Insoliti thus concludes with a double act of listening: first directed towards the past, with the fragile voice of the baroque guitar; then projected into another dimension, where technology does not simplify but amplifies the enigma of sound.
