Italian cellist and composer whose repertoire ranges from classical to electronic. Her compositional style moves between post minimal, ambient and experimental music. After earning a master’s degree in performing arts at the prestigious Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Mannheim in Maestro Michael Flaksman’s class, she met cellist Giovanni Sollima, with whom she studied cello and composition for four years at the Romanini Foundation in Brescia. He also participated in the courses of jazz cellist Stephan Braun (Berlin) and violinist Maximilian Grosch (Konservatorium in Klagenfurt). Equally decisive is the meeting with Eugene Friesen and Ernst Reijseger, with whom she deepens the practice of improvisation. In 2019 she was chosen by Giovanni Sollima, awarded the ‘Anner Bylsma’ prize by the Cello Biennale in Amsterdam, to record a solo disc with original music. The debut disc, entirely dedicated to exploring the expressive possibilities on the six-string electric cello, was presented at the Concertgebouw during the Cello Biennale Festival (2022). In 2023 she accompanied performer Alice on the ‘Eri con me’ tour, a tribute to Franco Battiato together with pianist Carlo Guaitoli. Chiara performs regularly in Italy (Ravenna festival, Lucca festival, Mantua Chamber musica festival) and abroad (Germany, Austria and England), in chamber and orchestral ensembles. He also flanks solo cello and live electronics performances. He plays an acoustic cello and a six-string electric instrument.
