Born in 1994, American musician living in Sweden since 2012. Her research as a soloist implements unique tuning systems in a minimalist form, between analog and digital synthesis, often combined with acoustic instruments – such as pipe organ, strings and wind instruments, lute and gongs.
Using synthetic and acoustic instrumentation, Malone’s rich harmonic textures emit a distinct emotional tone that serves to generate static and deep focus.
His works Cast of Mind and Organ Dirges 2016-2017 have been positively received, described by The Wire as “full of a divinity discovered in solitude, in a wild inner space […] a sacred modal communion between sound and space itself”, and as Boomkat put it “slowly unfolding electro-acoustic landscapes externalizing a highly personalized form of emotional topography”.
Malone is active in the groups Sorrowing Christ, Upper Glossa with Caterina Barbieri and frequently collaborates with the techno producer Acronym.
She notably performed at the Berlin Atonal, Moogfest and Norberg Festival. His releases can be found on Ascetic House, Bleak Ambiente, Hallow Ground, Total Black and on the label he runs, XKatedral.
